The Rapture In October?—Updated
Date-Setters and Their Dilemmas

Timothy S. Morton

Since we posted this article some of the brethren have taken issue with me for my position. That's not unusual.  However, I did some research on the decree to build Jerusalem dates, the crucifixation dates, and the "prophetic years" claims and came up with a little more information. Most of the updates are in  "The Formula Analyzed" section below.

Date-Setters of the Past

Claiming to know the likely date of the rapture is not a new concept. Many believers in the past have conjured up usually complex formulas designed to pin down the day or even hour of the Lord's return for His saints. Obviously, hindsight proves them all to be failures. Probably one of the most notable date setters in the not too distant past was Baptist, William Miller. As Thomas Ice describes,

"Miller…took the 2300 days from Daniel 8:14 when "the holy place will be properly restored" and turned them into years. Miller's starting year was 457 B.C., the time when Nebuchadnezzar profaned the Temple in Jerusalem. When you add them up you arrive at the year 1843 as the time of Christ's second coming. But when that year came and went, like any other year, it was discovered that a year had been left out for the shift from B.C. to A.D., thus 1844 was the true year. However, it too came and went and Miller's scheme became known as the "Great Disappointment."

Those who followed Miller later formed the "Seventh Day Adventist" denomination.

Does God's Love Have Conditions?

Timothy S. Morton

Unconditional Egomania

The term "unconditional love" has become one of the catchwords of recent years. It is used by nearly every segment of society to describe the kind of love they desire from others and "aspire" to give in return. The Christian world is caught up in this frenzy as well, including Fundamentalists. What is unconditional love? Is there such a concept in the Scriptures? Can man give such a love? Does God bestow such a love upon anyone? We will examine these questions in the following.

The use of "unconditional" as a description of "love, " according to one source, cannot be found in use before the "hippy" movement of the 1960s. As often as the words are used together today one would think the concept is of ancient origin, but that is not the case. It is a product of the 60s along with LSD, "free love, " and the "new age." "Unconditional" simply means "without condition or reservation." That is one is to "give love" without any physical, emotional, and especially moral judgments. "Love me for who I am" is a common request. Another way of saying this is, "It doesn't matter what I do, say, or believe, as a human being, I deserve unconditional love."

A Candid Study of Legalism, "Pharisees," and Christian Liberty

by Timothy S. Morton

All Scripture references and quotations are from the
Authorized King James Version of the Bible.

Chapter I
Legalism Verses Liberty

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage" (Gal. 5:1)

One aspect of salvation that seems little emphasized today is the fact that a born again Christian is free from the bondage of sin and the "yoke" of the law. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law…," purchasing our freedom with His blood, but as it was in Galatia in Paul's day, so it is today; there are still those who wish to take a Christian's liberty from him. Liberty must be jealously protected. If not, someone will invariably try to take it from him. From the influence of some "well meaning brethren," the Galatians were considering attempting to keep the Old Testament law along with receiving the work of Christ on the cross. Their "friends" were convincing them God would be more pleased and they would be more "acceptable" if they kept His "holy eternal law." Paul, however, rebukes them for such thinking and tells them only a "fool " would willingly trade liberty for bondage (Gal. 3:1-5). "Stand fast" he adjures them.

From the very beginning, God’s “revelation” to mankind has been on a need to know basis. This fact has been true from the creation of Adam up to the time of Moses (approximately 2,000 years – before the written “Scripture of Truth”); and from Moses’ time up to the death of the Apostle John (approximately 2,000 years – during the writing and recording of the “Oracles of God”, i.e. the “Scripture of Truth”); and from the death of the Apostle John up to the present time (approximately 2,000 years – after the close of the “Canon” of the “Scripture of Truth”).

God’s “revelation” to His people (Old Testament “saints” & New Testament “saints”) has been “progressive” – both in the number and kind of Books of the Holy Scriptures, and in the steady advancement and factual exposition of His Truth to His people over the years.

I undertook this study with the sincere intention of learning the Scriptural Definition for each of the words knowledge; discernment; understanding; and wisdom. But the more I searched the Scriptures for the definition of each word, the more I came to realize that I have only begun to understand the Scriptural “meaning” for each of the words.

DISCERNMENT {Discern – Discerned}

I have debated with myself as to which comes FIRST – “Discernment” or “Understanding”? And I still haven’t fully made up my mind. However, I believe that it is possible to be able to discern the difference between “spiritual things” without necessarily fully understanding “WHY”.

FIRST OCCURRENCE IN SCRIPTURE {“discern”, “discerned”, etc.}
[Genesis 27:23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him.]

In this world there exist various kinds of “DISCERNMENT”. It is important for Bible believers to distinguish between “worldly discernment” (i.e. “discernment” that is not spiritual, but which is carnal; human; temporal; and secular) and “Spiritual Discernment” (i.e. “discernment” that is given by God, and which comes directly from God).

People’s pre-conceptions and miss-conceptions of the “meanings” of Biblical words are extremely difficult to deal with.  The Scriptural study of the words Knowledge, Discernment, Understanding, and Wisdom has opened my eyes to my own miss-understanding of some of these words; and at the same time has demonstrated to me (once again) how much I still don’t know about the “deep things” [1 Corinthians 2:10] concerning the word of truth.

All humans possess a body, a soul, and a spirit (our “substance”); we also possess a heart, a mind, and a conscience (our “faculties”). I believe that we acquire worldly, temporal, secular, or carnal “knowledge” mainly through the faculty of the mind (our “intellect”) and that we can also acquire “Bible Knowledge” (“knowledge” about the Bible and/or Bible “subjects”) with this same “faculty”.

It is my firm belief that the basic “problem” with most of today’s “Christian Schools” (Primary, Secondary, Colleges, Universities, and Seminaries), and nearly all of the many “Christian” Schools established since the beginning of the Reformation, is the adoption of worldly and carnal teaching “methods” (Humanistic courses, curriculum, and programs - aimed solely at the mind). Or to put it another way – “Bible” or “Christian” subjects are being taught simply for the sake of “knowledge” alone, with very little thought (or care, or consideration) about genuine “spiritual” understanding and discernment (based on the words of God as found in the Holy Bible). Genuine Biblical “spiritual” understanding and discernment involves the exercise of not only the “faculty” of our mind, but also the “faculties” of our heart and of our conscience.

Before we begin a Scriptural examination of “Wisdom”, I believe it would behoove us to try to understand the relationship that our “attributes” (our “substance” = body, soul, & spirit; and our “faculties” = heart, mind, & conscience) have to do with “wisdom”.

WISE”: There are 33 verses in the Scriptures with the words “wise” & “heart” together.
[Exodus 28:3; 31:6; 35:10,25; 36:1-2,8; Leviticus 19:17; 1Kings 3:12; Job 9:4; 37:24; Psalms 101:2; Proverbs 10:8; 11:29; 15:7; 16:21,23; 18:15; 22:17; 23:15,19; 27:11; 28:26; Ecclesiastes 2:15; 7:4,7,22; 8:5; 9:1; 10:2; Ezekiel 13:17; Matthew 18:35; Romans 10:6]

There are only two verses in the entire Bible with the words “wise” & “mind” together [Proverbs 29:11 & Romans 12:16]; and in the context, neither verse indicates that there is such a thing as a “wise mind”.

In the Bible, a person is described as being “wise hearted“
[Exodus 28:3; 31:6; 35:10,25; 36:1-2,8]; “wise in heart” [Job 9:4; Proverbs 10:8; 16:21]; or “wise of heart” [Job 37:24; Proverbs 11:29], but never “wise minded”; “wise in mind” or “wise of mind”.

There are only two verses in the Bible with the words “wise” & “soul” together [Psalms 19:7 & Proverbs 11:30]; in context, neither verse indicates that the soul is “wise” or that there is such a thing as a “wise soul”.

There are no verses in the Bible with the words “wise” & “conscience” together.

Watch Out For It!

by M.H. Reynolds

©Fundamental Evangelistic Association

A movement called Promise Keepers is sweeping our nation like a wildfire. Is it of God, or man? Will it solve the problems of those who have embraced its principles and teachings, or will it compound those problems? Can a Biblical answer be given to those important questions now, or is it best to withhold judgment until a later time?

Obviously, some very conflicting views already exist as to the basis, programs, benefits and goals of the Promise Keepers movement. This report is based upon the actual words of its leaders made in public meetings, contained in press releases, or printed in books, magazines and articles which have either been published or endorsed by leaders of the Promise Keepers movement. It is obvious that this movement is superbly organized and has tremendous financial resources at its disposal. The way it has caught on since its formation in 1990, and its ambitious plans for expansion in the future, require our immediate response and warning.

Acts 2:38

Satan's Favorite Bible Verse

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)

The above verse of scripture is a favorite among many religious groups. One can hear it several times on Sunday morning radio programs, as well as from the pulpits of numerous groups, and it can be found in much religious literature. The verse is a favorite because, on the surface, it seemingly states that one must be baptized in order to be saved, and without baptism one is not saved. So, those who believe that water baptism is essential for salvation make it a regular habit of using Acts 2:38 as scriptural support.

The Bible Believer’s Guide to Dispensationalism

By Dr. David Walker

The Bible Believer’s Guide to Dispensationalism is not merely another evaluation of a preferred system of study. Rather, it is an earnest defense of true biblical interpretation.

Some think interpreting the Bible is relative and dependent upon personal preference. Others insist that various systems of study are necessary to find the right interpretation. Still yet, some go as far to claim that their church or organization has the only key to unlocking the Bible’s meaning.

All of these views err tremendously. Joseph acknowledged the only one who can “interpret” when he said: “Do not interpretations belong to God?” (Gen. 40:8). Furthermore, Simon Peter declared “that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation” (2 Peter 1:20).

So, if “interpretations belong to God,” and we are not to “privately interpret” the scriptures, how are we to understand what we read (Acts 8:30)?

The answer to that question brings us to the premise of this work. Namely, that God has given us a book without error, inconsistency or contradiction, and He has laid out a method that guarantees correct interpretation every time. This biblical method is actually God’s system of validating His own word, and is known as “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). When one traces this biblical practice throughout church history he finds its most common name: dispensationalism.

Fact or Fiction?

Copyright © 1997 James L. Melton
Published by Bible Baptist Church, Sharon, TN

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things." (Romans 1:20-23)

These inspired words of God should be posted over the door to every science and biology lab in every state university in America. Every person born into the world is born with enough conscience to tell him that God created the Heaven and the Earth. If you do not believe that God created the Heaven and the Earth, then it is because you've allowed someone to educate you out of your faith in God's word. You have been tricked into forsaking the Bible by placing your faith in a man-made religion called "Evolution."

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2Ti 3:16).

"No prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2Pe 1:20,21).

These verses above clearly tell us that the Scriptures are God-breathed and are not fables written by men, and we read "it was impossible for God to lie" (Heb 6:18). Therefore there cannot be any errors in the Holy Bible, and it is perfect historically, geographically, scientifically, grammatically and numerically, and "every word of God is pure" (Pr 30:5).

This is acknowledged by almost all genuine believers of the Word of God. But some of them say that only the "original autographs" are inspired and the copies of the Scripture got corrupted in the course of time due to accumulation of copyists' errors, and therefore the Scriptures we have today, whether in original tongues or translations, are not completely error free (Please see the notes for Jer 52:12,22,25,31 in the NIV Study Bible). Neither do they agree the fact that, a faithful translation of Scriptures by able and godly men from an error free copy of scriptures in the original tongue, preserved divinely, is equally inspired Word. But still they talk about the "general accuracy" of the Scriptures, of course with its copyists' errors included which, they say, do not matter much, and must be ignored. But that would essentially mean that the Word which says "every word of God is pure" is irrelevant today. Would not God who gave His holy Word preserve it from corruption?

New Living Translation EXPOSED!

by Robert J. Stewart

The New Living Translation (NLT) is straight from Hell.  On their official website, NLT advertises with the slogan, "Accuracy you can trust."  Unfortunately, the NLT is not very accurate.  The fact that the word "begotten" has been wrongfully removed from John 3:16 should be enough reason for every Christian to trash their NLT.  In fact, I would rip it into shreds first to ensure that no one else is poisoned by it.  To say that Jesus is God's "only son" is a lie!  In fact, God has many sons according to Scriptures such as 1st John 3:1, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God."  Biblically, God has MANY sons, but Jesus is the only BEGOTTEN Son.  So you see, ANY bible which removes the word "begotten" from John 3:16 becomes heresy.  This includes most modern bibles such as the perverted New International Version (NIV), The Book For Teens (TBFT), the New Living Translation (NLT), the New Believer's Bible (NBB), the Living Bible (LB), and many more.  It is tragic!

Let's face it, the corrupters who are publishing demonic bibles are all out to make a fast buck, filthy lucre!  In order to reach the largest market base possible, they trim and water down the Scriptures as much as tolerable.  This is evil.  God hates Bible corruption –Deuteronomy 4:2, "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."  Well, the NLT butchers have diminished God's Word by subtracting "begotten" from John 3:16.

Is this the Word of God?

by David B. Loughran

In (Part 2) of the Stewarton Bible School's booklet Bible Versions…Which is the Real Word of God? I listed 80+ Bible texts from the King James Version; texts which had been corrupted in the Revised Version. I then invited readers to compare those texts with the modern translations they were using, mainly because most modern translations are based on the same corrupt Greek text used to underlie the Revised Version.

Some readers overlooked that introductory paragraph with its reference to the REVISED VERSION and when they found that certain verses in their modern version were not different from the KJV they concluded that the 'proof texts' listed in the booklet were no proof at all.
Their oversight has prompted me to prepare this article which deals exclusively with the New American Standard Version (NASV). God willing I will prepare similar articles dealing exclusively with other modern translations.

Meanwhile you are invited, as in the first article, to compare any modern version with the following texts; because most of them are also influenced by the same corrupt manuscripts (Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus) which underlie the NASV being examined here. You owe it to yourself and family to check out these verses because it is dangerous folly to persist in error once it has been brought to your attention.

A Comparison of the New American Standard Version (NASV) with the Authorised King James Bible (KJB)

Edited by David Otis Fuller

Scanned to digital form and re-edited by Brandon Staggs

"BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURITH FOREVER. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." -1 Peter 1:25

The whole issue of this confusion engendered by such a multiplicity of versions is narrowed down to the following: If the reader believes the Bible to be the verbally, plenary, inspired Word of God in the original manuscripts, then of necessity he must believe that God has providentially preserved it through the ages down to the present hour. For the Holy Spirit has recorded in Psalm 138:2, "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name."

The Psalmist tells us (12:6): "The words of the Lord are pure words:

as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." And again in Psalm 119:140: "Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it." If we believe God has, in His great and sovereign Providence, preserved His Book intact through the ages, then there’s but one question left: "Which version is nearest to the original manuscripts?" We maintain with solid substantial proof that the KING JAMES VERSION is that version.

The Jesus Of The Dake Annotated Reference Bible

by Jeff Spancer

From time to time, this article can be found online. However, the article moves around so much that it often is hard to find – and certainly hard to keep up with the address changes. Therefore, we are also reproducing it below.

Finis Jennings Dake (1902-87) was a Pentecostal pastor, teacher, and author whose most influential work is the Dake's Annotated Reference Bible. This study Bible, containing notes on the entire Old and New Testaments, was first published in 1963. The Dake Bible is considered the top "Pentecostal Study Bible" by many. In fact, the Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements says, "His 'notes' became the 'bread and butter' of many prominent preachers and the 'staple' of Pentecostal congregations." Dake is very important within Pentecostal/Charismatic circles.

Dake was a man devoted to the study of the Word of God. In fact, the back cover of one of his books says, "His supernatural ability to flawlessly quote Scripture earned him a reputation as the 'Walking Bible.'" Dake himself claims a supernatural knowledge of the Bible that came soon after his conversion—even before he began to study the Word of God. Dake asserts:

I was immediately able to quote hundreds of Scriptures without memorizing them. I also noticed a quickening of my mind to know what chapters and books various verses were found in. Before conversion, I had not read one full chapter of the Bible. This new knowledge of Scripture was a gift to me, for which I give God the praise. From the time of this special anointing until now, I have never had to memorize the thousands of scriptures I use in teaching. I just quote a verse when I need it, by the anointing of the Spirit.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD,
that I will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Amos 8:11

In 1995, the NIV team (International Bible Society (IBS) and Committee on Bible Translations (CBT)) created a feminist "gender-inclusive" NIV, titled the New International Version Inclusive language edition [NIVI]. They found out very quickly and very loudly that America was not "prime-time ready" for a NIV feminist "gender inclusive" edition. So the NIVI was published solely in Great Britain by Hodder & Stoughton (Zondervan is the exclusive NIV publisher in the U.S.). The NIVI is so drenched in feminist changes and so corrupt, it cannot legally be sold in America. The NIVI is a "bound and gagged book" in America. See 2 Timothy 2:9, ( ‘. . .but the word of God is not bound"). According to Christianity Today, NIV copyright holder, International Bible Society (IBS) even requested that Hodder & Stoughton quit selling the embarrassing NIVI in liberal England.

And they were filled with madness;
and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

Luke 6:11

The cornerstone of the Christian faith is the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Not His teachings, not His morals, not His miracles, not His example – but HIM.

John 14:6 says:

Jesus saith unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but BY ME.

If there's one doctrine that Christians should guard and protect it surely is the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. The FACT that Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh is the foundation of the Christian faith.

For years the new Bible versions have been continually chipping away at the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 3:16 is the clearest verse in the Bible proclaiming Jesus Christ as "God manifest in the flesh". In 1 Timothy 3:16, the King James Bible is unmistakable – "God was manifest in the flesh".

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:16, KJB

In 1 Timothy 3:16, virtually every new version replaces the clear, emphatic "God" with the generic "he".

. . . What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?. . .
Matthew 27:22

Another deliberate and confusing mistranslation is the Greek word "Christos". The Greek word "Christos" is always translated (or actually transliterated) as "Christ". In fact, the Lord Jesus Christ is referred to as "Christ" by preachers, teachers, Christians and people worldwide more than either Lord or Jesus. People who follow the Lord Jesus Christ are call Christians. It is the "de facto" standard when referencing the Lord Jesus Christ and His followers.

". . . And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. . ." Acts 11:26

69 times the translators of the TNIV intentionally, mis-translate "christos" as "messiah".

It’s interesting that the ultra-liberal, ecumenical, Roman Catholic [which includes the Apocrypha] supported, National Council of the Churches copyrighted, feminist-approved, gender-inclusive, New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) also mis-translates "christ" as "messiah" 66 times. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Zondervan also publishes the feminist-gender-inclusive, New Revised Standard Version (NRSV).

And I sought for a man among them,
. . . but I found none
Ezekiel 22:30

Since the 60's the radical feminists have been screaming and whining that sexist, male chauvinist word 'man' has just got to go. Today, we no longer have a postman, but a letter carrier; the policeman is now a police officer; the businessman is a businessperson; a fireman is a firefighter; our garbage man is a garbage collector, chairman is a chairperson, on and on. We've just got to divorce that mean ol' sexist 'man'. He has got to go. It's gotten so bad, some have suggested renaming the city of Manchester into Personchester.

For over 500 years, the words 'man’ and ‘mankind’ were terms that neatly referenced the whole family – mom, dad, son, daughter, boy, girl, baby – it was simple. And it was effective. But today, thanks to the whining militant feminists, 'man' is quickly becoming an endangered species.

And the TNIV-NIV-NIVI translators are certainly helping the cause. . .

The TNIV web site describes their "man-removal" operation:

"Where the NIV previously used 'he,' 'man,' or 'men' to indicate all people, the TNIV, in many cases, renders these passages as 'person,' 'people' or other terminology that reflects the meaning of the original language."
(TNIV: Clarity in Contemporary English,

Isaiah 49:1

For the last 25 years the baby-killing, pro-abortion, feminists, have spewed forth their crusade of propaganda and lies. Since Roe v. Wade (1973) over 40 million innocent, babies have been murdered. It's interesting 1973, happens to be the date the "original" New International Version New Testament [NIV] was published. . . hmm . . . (by their fruits ye shall know them. Matt 7:20)

40 million babies. . . That's more than 25 times the number of every soldier killed in all the wars in America's history.

40 million babies. . . That's more babies than the COMBINED population of Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, Montana, Rhode Island, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, Idaho, Nebraska, West Virginia, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Iowa, Connecticut, and Oregon!

That's more innocent little babies murdered than the COMBINED total of 23 states!

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind:
it is abomination.

Leviticus 18:22

In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, the word of God delivers a very serious warning against certain sins. Among these sins is sodomy, or homosexuality. The TNIV obscures the seriousness of the judgement on "homosexuals" by confusing the sin of "homosexuals" by adding the word "practicing". It’s no longer "homosexuals" but "practicing homosexuals".

1 Corinthians 6:8-10, TNIV
8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Practicing homosexuals?

Where did the TNIV translators ever come up with such a biased, unwarranted, pro-homosexual wording? Why didn’t they say "practicing" adulterers, "practicing" thieves, or "practicing" drunkards, or "practicing" slanders? Hmm. . . Why just "practicing homosexuals"?

The TNIV translators pull the same trick in 1 Timothy 1:10

1 Timothy 1:9-10, TNIV
9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers. And it is for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

Why not "practicing" murders, or "practicing" liars, or "practicing" slave traders?

Remove not the ancient landmark,
which thy fathers have set
Proverbs 22:28

One of the major problems facing America today is fatherless families. Today, fathers are an endangered species. It’s gotten so bad, President Bush and Congress have proposed "buy back the fathers" programs offering cash incentives just to encourage fathers to marry.

The father’s role in a family can not be overemphasized.

Look at the following alarming statistics:

  • 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes. [U. S. D.H.H.S. Bureau of the Census]
  • 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes.
  • 85% of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes. [Center for Disease Control]
  • 80% of rapist motivated with displaced anger come from fatherless homes. [Criminal Justice and Behavior, Vol. 14 p. 403-26]
  • 72% percent of adolescent murders come from fatherless homes. [William J. Bennett, The Index of Leading Cultural Indicators, p. 61]
  • 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes. [National Principals Association Report on the State of High Schools]
  • 70% of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes [U.S. Dept. of Justice, Special Report, Sept., 1988]
  • 70 percent of long-term prison inmates come from fatherless homes. [William J. Bennett, The Index of Leading Cultural Indicators, p. 61]
  • 85% of all youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home. [Fulton County Georgia Jail Populations and Texas Dept. of Corrections, 1992]
  • Nearly 2 of every 5 children in America do not live with their fathers. [US News and World Report, February 27, 1995, p.39]

  • 4.6 times more likely to commit suicide

. . .thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they,
and hast justified thy sisters
in all thine abominations which thou hast done.
Ezekiel 16:51

The NIV (and nearly all the other versions) replaced the gender-inclusive "brethren" with the male-only "brothers". The gender-inclusive, TNIV just couldn’t allow that male-only "brothers". That wouldn’t please N.O.W. [National Organization for Women] or Virginia Mollenkott.

What could they do? The NIV and sisters, replaced the gender-inclusive "brethren" with the male-chauvinist "brothers" – so how could they get out of this pickle?

Simple. . . The TNIV mis-translators reached back into that "magic no Greek text translation hat" and pulled out another rabbit – a female rabbit named "sisters".

So with over 110 "magic translation" tricks, the TNIV reads "brothers and sisters" – where there ain’t no "sister’. And there ain’t no Greek manuscript in the universe to justify the addition of the word "sisters".

Some "magic" examples:

Notice, the first three verses are MIS quotes of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 25:40, KJB
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:40, TNIV
"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

. . . Have ye not read,
that he which made them at the beginning
made them male and female,

Matthew 19:4

By far the most extensive damage performed by the inclusive-perversions is the extermination of the "generic" masculine pronouns, such as "he / him / his".

Known as the "generic he", generic masculine pronouns are the standard method used in the English language when addressing an "indefinite" or "undefined" individual. Masculine pronouns, such as "he / him / his" are utilized to address both male and female when the gender is unknown. The "generic he" has been the accepted method literally, since the beginning of the English language.

The Preface to the TNIV states:

"While a basic core of the English language remains relatively stable, many diverse and complex cultural forces [as in the feminists ‘cultural force’?] continue to bring about the subtle [see Gen 3:1] shifts in the meanings and/or connotations of even old, well-established words and phrases. Among the more programmatic changes in the TNIV is the removal of nearly all vocative ‘O’’s and the elimination of most instances of the generic use of masculine nouns and pronouns."
(TNIV, Preface, p. vii, emphasis and bracketed comments added)

Boy. . . the NIV translators weren’t just kidding when they declared ". . .the elimination of most instances of the generic use of masculine nouns and pronouns." With the exception of referring to specific male individuals, virtually every masculine pronoun is removed from the TNIV!

  • The TNIV zaps ‘he’ over 1090 times – over 35% of ‘he’ is deleted.
  • The TNIV zaps ‘him’ over 1600 times – a whopping 66% of ‘him’ is deleted.
  • The TNIV zaps ‘his’ over 290 times – over 20% of ‘his’ is deleted.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God. . .
2 Corinthians 2:17

Don’t look for any "sons of God" in the TNIV – sorry, they’ve all been "neutered".

The Lord no longer has any sons – they're all just "neutered" children.

The TNIV translators and publishers claim their motive for the TNIV is to provide a translation in "today’s most contemporary, accepted English" and in language to reach today’s generation. It’s funny, that every new Bible that comes out says that?

How about Romans 12:1 and "today’s most contemporary, accepted English"?

Here's the supposedly archaic, hard to understand King James.

Romans 12:1, KJB
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And here’s the latest-greatest, easier to understand, in today’s language, blah. . . blah. . . blah TNIV:

Romans 12:1, TNIV
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your proper worship as rational beings.

One hundred years ago John Burgon wrote:

"If you and I believe that the original writings of the Scriptures were verbally inspired by God, then of necessity they must have been providentially preserved through the ages."

This is the crux of the matter; does God preserve that Word which He originally inspired? And if so, to what extent? Is it merely the concepts and basic message that is kept intact; or does preservation, as inspiration, extend to the words themselves?

That the Bible declares both the fact and extent of its preservation is made abundantly clear in the following:

"Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD" (2 Kings 10:10).

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever" (Psa. 12:6,7).

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

"Mrs. Riplinger never once mentions the fact that many of her confident statements about Westcott and Hort being 'spiritualists' are based upon pure speculation on her part…she is not referring in her statements to B.F. Westcott, the textual critic, but to W.W. Westcott, a London mortician…Did Mrs. Riplinger ever note this on Action 60's? Did she ever say, 'Now, what I'm saying about Westcott and Hort is in fact merely speculation on my part? No, she made her assertions directly and without qualifications."

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

White lies once again. His headlong rush through the material under discussion has ended in a charge of reckless driving. He accelerates through every caution light, flying past critical words and entire quotes! Hoping his traveling companions won't notice or hear the siren, he turns up the radio ranting–"gross misrepresentation," "dishonesty," and "egregious error." His 'white lies' given to the arresting officer are recorded here (and in heaven).

I quoted Westcott and Hort as saying,

"[R]eadings of Aleph and B should be accepted as true readings…[They] stand far above all documents…[are] very pure…excellent…immune from corruption."

White cites this quote and concludes the following.

"Anyone reading this material would be led to believe that Westcott and Hort held a very radical view of the Greek manuscripts Aleph and B."

Officer: White takes three pages setting up and demolishing this straw man. If he had carefully read the entire page and knew the jargon of the textual critics, he could have saved himself much embarrassment. To foster his misrepresentation, White does three things.

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

White's doom is his penchant for making statements without adequate research or proof. He bleats, "Her degrees, her teaching, and her writing are all in one area…Her field of study is not at all related to the Bible, history or any type of linguistics or textual study."

He's wrong about the teaching.
He's wrong about the degrees.
He's wrong about the history.
He's wrong about the linguistics.
He's wrong about the writing.

He will have a difficult time convincing Harvard and Cornell or the University which awarded my M.F.A., or my ten or so history professors at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He will find it equally difficult to persuade the employer who hired me as a linguistic expert, teaching Greek speaking students English as a second language. (Or the Japanese, Russian, Italian, Spanish or Serbo-Croatian students which followed.) Students from six different majors will also testify to White's lack of research.

Jim likes to play word games. He lost with Vanna White, let's see how he does with Jeopardy!

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

Scanning I John 4:2,3 in a new version will show how their wording fits precisely into the New Age One World Religion.

              NIV KJV
This is how you can recognize Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:
the Spirit of God: Every spirit Every spirit that confesseth that
that acknowledges that Jesus Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
Christ has come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that
is from God, but every spirit confesseth not that Jesus Christ
that does not acknowledge Jesus is come in the flesh is not of God:
is not from God. This is the and this is that spirit of antichrist...
spirit of antichrist... I John 4:2-3

The MAIN tenet of the New World Religion is TOLERANCE for the religious beliefs of others. Therefore Christians may still believe that "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" as stated in verse 2 above. BUT the broad way forbids that we say that one who "confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God." Therefore, I John 4:2 can stand with little alteration. BUT, I John 4:3 MUST change to conform to the unjudgmental broad way. "Christ is come in the flesh" must be removed. All New World Religion advocates will "acknowledge Jesus."

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

"[T]he angel of the bottomless pit…hath his name Apollyon, [destruction]." Rev. 9:11

White's newsletter is called Pros Apoligian. There is a fine line between a 'defence' of one's beliefs and destroying the hearer's ear. (Mark 14:47) White crosses the line with the 666 mobius logo he now uses to terminate letters and his choice of reference works to correct the KJV and New Age Bible Versions. His Greek lexicon library comes from the enemy camp. He must be totally unaware that the lexicon he uses, Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon, was written by a UNITARIAN. Thayer spent his entire life trying to prove that the Trinity does not exist and that Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are not God.

So, where does Mr. White go to prove that my defence of the KJV's "Godhead" (Rom. 1:20, Col. 2:9, Acts 17:29) is wrong? You guessed it: Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon!! The publisher's preface even gives a warning cautioning readers to be alert regarding alterations and verses dealing with the deity of Christ. There are four very strong verses on the Trinity in the KJV. Thayer manages to dissolve all of them. White follows this blind leader of the blind and says,

"Thayer's lexicon says 'deity…theotes, theiotes: theot'. deity differs from 'theiot'. divinity, as essence differs from quality or attribute. This bit of information is vital" (Pros Apoligian, Vol. 2, Issue 2)

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

White claims "the deity of Christ" is undermined in the KJV in Titus 2:13 and 2 Peter 1:1. He must be unaware of the following:

Titus 2:13

1.) All Greek texts have the wording of the KJV. None render it as the new versions do.

2.) The Granville Sharp theory he cites is just that, a theory. It does not require that the Greek word order be changed, or commas added, but simply states that one person, not two, are presented here.

3.) The same grammatical construction is used to express the deity of the Father "God and our Father") in Gal. 1:4, 1 Thes. 1:3, and Phil. 4:20. The O.T. uses such construction frequently (i.e. Is. 45:21, a just God and a Saviour, and Gen. 49:25).

4.) New versions omit the definite article "the" great God, seen in all Greek texts. He is the great God, but is only our Saviour since we believe in him.

5.) The spelling of 'Saviour' as "Savior" denies his deity. See Webster's distinction between a "savior" ("one who saves") (it could be anyone) and the 'Saviour' "Jesus Christ the Redeemer". (The move from a seven letter word, the Bible's number for perfection, to a six letter word, the Bible's number for man, is a downhill move.)

2 Peter 1:1

1.) The Textus Receptus (Elzevir) reads "our Saviour." (See footnote in Berry's Stephen's interlinear.)

2.) P. 371 of New Age Bible Versions quotes Lewis Foster, an NIV editor, confessing WHY they really insert Christ's deity here and omit it nearly 100 other places.

3.) White pretends the KJV says "our God and our Savior, Jesus Christ" in Titus 2:13 and 2 Peter 1:1. The KJV has only one "our," no comma, and spells Saviour correctly.

G.A. Riplinger's Response to James White's Criticism of New Age Bible Versions ==================================================================

"Woe unto you, scribes…Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel…Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes…" Matt. 23:23-29

Oh how God must wish such Pharisees would strain out the bats in their new versions, as energetically as they try to strain at my gnats.

In a herculean effort to find something wrong with a book that finds SO MUCH truly wrong with his own new versions, White has resorted to inflating typographical and proofreading errors in the early printings. He describes such human error as "grossly dishonest." Pickpockets tend to think everyone who bumps into them is trying to pick their pocket. Psychologists call this projection. Only someone who lied themselves would assume that simple transcriptural errors, common in any written material (including the critics'), were intentional lies.

Belle Meadows Baptist Church, 619 Wagner Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201 703-669-4023

This work of exposing the new versions comes from convictions I established in the late seventies while I was still a member of the United Methodist Conference. In 1979, I was sent to Athens Tennessee to complete a conference course to obtain a local pastor's license. Many of the young preachers, if not all of us, had brought our KJV Bibles with us. One of the leading conferences speakers told us to get rid of those old, outdated King James Bibles and to get something up dated. During a break in our classes, I entered a small Bible book store and I purchased two books that God used in my life. One book was by Dr. John R. Rice on the lodge. God used that booklet to open my eyes to the danger of the lodge, and in 1980, I demitted from the lodge. The other book was titled, God Only Wrote One Bible by James Jasper Ray. This brother pointed out how Westcott and Hort used a corrupted Greek text to translate the Revised Version. One night after I came home, I had my wife bring me her New American Standard Bible. I couldn't believe that whole verses were left out and changed. Nearly 200 omissions and changes in the N.A.S.V. shocked both my wife and myself. God used that to give me a conviction that our beloved KJV is the Word of God. As the years progressed, I believe evermore that Satan is behind the modern translations. The once great soul winning denominations have been reduced to social clubs by means of modernist translations that question every important doctrine, needed to get to heaven. God gave me these convictions many years before I ever heard the name Peter Ruckman. Many today want to label every King James Bible Man to be in some far out circle or fellowship. This work on the NIV is a work of faith and labor of love. I want every believer to be equipped for the ever present battle and to have victory over Satan. Oh, that God might use this material to aid God's people to victory in their lives. This is my goal and desire.

A Critique of James R. White's book

By Dr. Thomas D. Holland, Th. D. (Email:

Justification by faith was the birth cry of the Protestant Reformation. The essential word for men like Luther was faith, which has its roots and life in the living word of God (Rom. 10:17). Today, however, the essential word seems to be justification. Men seek to justify their actions and systems of belief, often at the cost of truth and consistency.

Those who believe the King James Bible to be the preserved word of God for the English speaking people will find no friend in the writings of James R. White and his recent book, "The King James Only Controversy: Can You Trust the Modern Translations?" (Bethany House Publishers 1995). White seeks to justify the use of modern versions such as the NIV and NASV while attacking those who hold to the Authorized Version as the word of God.

It would take a volume to answer all White's objections to the King James Bible and those who believe it. Those criticisms have all been addressed in the writings of those White opposes. However, some points of justification require further examination. The number of contradictions, straw man arguments, and false information is astounding. So are the number of endorsements his book has received by those who view it as "scholarly and accurate," as quoted by Dr. Bruce Metzger, editor of the United Bible Society's Greek text (the basic text for the NIV and TEV). Such endorsements are understandable considering supporters are themselves translators and editors of modern Greek texts.

Chapter 1

The History of the NASB

There are several significant dates in the history of the NASB. In 1960 the NASB first appeared as just the Gospel of John. This was followed in 1962 with the translation of the Four Gospels. The completed New Testament was issued in 1963, the Psalms in 1968, and the entire Bible was published in 1971. But the history of the NASB does not begin with any of these dates.

NIV Exposed!

". . . ye have PERVERTED the words of the living God. . ."
Jeremiah 23:36

This generation has a hunger for perversion. What was perversion just a few years ago, is now "normal". What was "hiding" in the closet is now "parading" in our streets. Perversion has found a welcome home – from the living room, to the White House; from our churches – to even the word of God!

Our friend Webster, defines "pervert" as 1. to cause to turn aside or away from what is good or true… 2. to twist the meaning or sense of: misinterpret (Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1977, p.856).

Which Translation Should You Trust? A Defense Of The Authorized King James Version Of 1611

Introduction and Chapter I

by Timothy S. Morton

Copyright © 1993, Timothy S. Morton, All Rights Reserved All Scripture references and quotations (except where indicated) are from the Authorized King James Bible

In days past purchasing a Bible was simple. All a person had to do was go to a store that sold them, find one the size he wanted and with a cover he liked, and pay for it; he then had his own copy of the word of God. The buyer did not have to choose which version he wanted because for all practical purposes only one was available—the Authorized King James Version of 1611. In those days when a person said "Bible" everyone knew he was referring to the King James Version. Today, however, this simple task has become much more complicated. In the last one hundred years (especially the last thirty), publishers have bombarded Christians with dozens of new translations, each claiming to be superior to the King James Version. All of these new "Bibles" on the market leave many Christians (especially new converts) in a dilemma. They do not know which one to get. They want to get the best one or the right one, but which is it? A conversation between a new Christian and a salesman in a modern Christian bookstore could go like the following:

Which Translation Should You Trust? A Defense Of The Authorized King James Version Of 1611

Chapter II

All true Christians agree that God wrote a Bible. They believe "holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:21), and that these men wrote down many of the words God moved them to speak. These words they insist are God's very own words, thus they are pure and free from error. True Christians further proclaim, "The Bible does not contain God's word, it IS God's word." With this we have no dispute. As mentioned before, however, most scholars cannot stop here. They must make an additional statement, one that is just as true as the others, but it also contains a dangerous implication. They will place a condition on the infallibility of the scriptures by saying: "We believe that the Bible as originally written is the infallible word of God." Here the scholars reveal their infidelity. This conditional statement shows they are obsessed with something God abandoned nearly two thousand years ago—the original manuscripts. If God wanted to preserve the "originals" for every generation there is no doubt He could have, but He DID NOT choose to. A Bible believing Christian has the same attitude toward them as He does: the originals have served their purpose and are NO LONGER NEEDED.

Which Translation Should You Trust? A Defense Of The Authorized King James Version Of 1611

Chapter III

That the King James Version is still being published 380 years after it first arrived in history is amazing. Since its introduction, there have been dozens of new "Bibles" put on the market to replace it, but none have succeeded. This alone is strong evidence that it is the version God has placed His stamp of approval on. One time a person of prominence asked a Christian for one reason why he should believe the Bible is the word of God. The believer responded with two words: "The Jew." His reasoning was since the Jewish people have been severely persecuted for most of their history, and many other nations have targeted them for complete annihilation, the fact they still exist with the same religion, culture, and language they began with proves the Bible to be true. This can be said of no other ancient nation. The Bible predicted in several places that the Jews would never be completely wiped from the face of the earth, and it also predicted their return to their land (Jeremiah 30:11, Ezekiel 34:13, 36:24, etc). Unlike the Philistines, Moabites, Amorites, and many other cultures which were once neighbors with Israel, the Jew remains unto this day.

Which Translation Should You Trust? A Defense Of The Authorized King James Version Of 1611

Chapter IV

The Use Of Italics

Now that we have briefly looked at the translators and their motives, let's look at the result of their labors. One reason the King James Version is the most honest English Bible is because of its use of italics. When the translators had to supply a word (or words) in the Authorized Version to make it make sense in English, they put it in italics. That is, they were honest in showing the words they added to the text. This is something the translators of nearly all the modern versions failed to do. The New International Version, for one, has the translated words and the words the translators added in the same type. There is no way a reader can tell which is which. Obviously, indicating the added words is a more ethical practice, yet the Authorized Version translators are often criticized for doing so.

Some people ignorantly claim that all the italicized words should be removed, but this would be harmful. It would make some Bible passages unclear or difficult to understand because they would not contain complete sentences in English (Psalm 58:7-8 for example). Others insist that only some of the italicized words should be removed or at least changed, but which ones? Of course, only the ones THEY want removed or changed. The italicized word "unknown" in 1 Corinthians 14 is one that is often in debate. Some want to remove it because some others build an outrageous doctrine upon it. Many of the Charismatics teach the "unknown tongue" is an "angelic language" that no one on earth can understand, but it is clear from reading the entire chapter that Paul is referring to foreign languages which are unknown only to the HEARERS. This is plain without removing the italicized words. The added word does not confuse the text as some claim, it clarifies what type of tongue (language) Paul is speaking about. In the preface of the Authorized Version one will find the words "unknown tongue" used in the same manner—a foreign language. It's not the Bible's fault some people "wrest the scriptures" (2 Peter 3:16).

Which Translation Should You Trust? A Defense Of The Authorized King James Version Of 1611

Chapter V

The most powerful indication that the King James Version is the pure, inerrant word of God is how it speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ. In this area, even more than in the others, it blows the new "Bibles" to pieces. The King James Version exalts the Lord Jesus Christ to the highest level at every opportunity; it consistently exalts Him as much as the Greek text will allow while the new versions practice just the opposite. These "perversions" do not hesitate to question Christ's deity, virgin birth, blood atonement, bodily resurrection, and ascension in a number of places yet their publishers insist they are better Bibles. For a true Christian, who should love and exalt his Savior with all his being (Mark 12:30), these facts alone should cause him to question the integrity of these versions. Whenever his Savior's character or virtue is attacked in any form, every believer should realize that Satan must be in it somewhere (Genesis 3:15); and since ALL the new "Bibles" attack Christ's integrity in some manner, the saint should have no doubt about him being involved. One of the characteristics of the coming "antichrist" is he denies that Jesus Christ has "come in the flesh" (1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3; 2 John 7). That is, he openly denies His DEITY.
